  1. How to disable internet connectivity for a particular app/software?

I want to disable the internet connectivity of 'Steam' as my younger brother keeps on downloading video games from the steam client on my computer. I cannot downright uninstall it as well since his existing games would cease to function for the offline mode. So is there a way where the computer is connected to the internet but only 'Steam' is unable to access it?For reference, we can disable internet connectivity for particular apps on Android smartphones using app settings. Is there a way for doing something like this on a Windows 8.1 PC?

    :)

  3. Windows 10 not loading correctly. Apps not loading and not connecting to Internet

    Hello,

We realize the inconvenience you are experiencing with Apps not loading and not connecting to Internet. We will certainly help you.

This issue might occur if the Proxy settings are on or If Windows firewall is blocking the apps to connect to Internet.

Unfortunately, Modern UI apps including Windows Store will not work due to the proxy settings. You may have to disable and check with the issue. If disabling works, you may have to repeat this process in order to access the apps.

    • Have you installed all pending Windows updates?

Perform the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

I would suggest you to use the Modern UI apps as well as Windows Store without proxy settings. Follow the steps to disable the proxy connection:

    a. Open Internet Explorer.

    b. Click on tools and select Internet Options.

    c. Click on Connections.

    d. Click on LAN Settings.

    e. Remove check mark next to proxy server.

    f. Click on OK.

    g. Restart the browser.

Step 2: Disable Firewall Temporarily and check if the same issue occurs.

Disable the Antivirus software temporarily and check if it helps.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect the computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable the antivirus software. If you do have
to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time the antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Step 3: Run Windows Apps troubleshooter and check.

    • Type troubleshooting
      in the search bar.

    • Select Troubleshooting.

    • Select View all
      on the top left corner.

    • Click on
      Windows Store app
      .

    • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

Let us know the result. We will be happy to assist you further.

    Thank you.

  4. How to disable internet connectivity for a particular app/software?

Windows Store and Apps could not connect to the internet

    Hi Ghiridhar,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    • Is the issue specific to some particular apps? Are you able to use internet from other modern UI apps?

    • Does internet works fine with desktop apps?

    • Are you using any proxy server for internet connection?

    • Have you installed any third party antivirus program?
You may face this issue due to changes in internet connection settings between modern UI apps. To fix this problem, use the following methods in the order in which they are listed. After each method, check if problem is fixed. If the problem is not
    fixed, try the next method.

Method 1: I would first suggest you to verify if this is caused by the proxy connection on the computer. To check this, you may disable the proxy connection on the computer and check if the Metro apps are working fine.

    Disable the Proxy Settings.

If you are connected to the Internet using the proxy settings, then the Windows 10 Apps cannot connect to the Internet and thus they do not work properly as expected. So, we need to check and disable the proxy settings in the computer. Follow these
steps to disable the proxy settings and check if it helps.

    a) Press “Windows Logo” + “R” keys on the keyboard, type “inetcpl.cpl” and press “Enter”.

    b) Click the “Connections” tab, and then click “LAN settings”.

    c) Uncheck the “Use a proxy server for your LAN” check box.

    d) Click “Ok”.

If the issue still persists even after disabling the proxy, then there could be some other problems on the computer causing this issue. So, in this case, I would suggest you to run the App Troubleshooter and check if that helps.

Method 2: Run the Apps Troubleshooter

Run the Apps troubleshooter. This tool can automatically
identify and fix some problems with apps.

Please go through the following link for troubleshooting further if the troubleshooter does not help
except running the automated app troubleshooter suggested in the article (as it is incompatible with Windows 10). Note: This article is also applicable for Windows 10.

    Troubleshoot problems with an app

You may please check the troubleshooting report and let’s know the details. You may also try the suggestions given by the troubleshooter and check if that resolves the issue. If that doesn’t help, then try the next method.

Method 3: I would suggest you to temporarily disable antivirus program and firewall and check.

Warning: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software,
you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Hope this information is helpful. Do let us know if you need any further assistance, we will be glad to assist you.
