Windows 10: How to disable Microsoft Edge from the start menu in windows 10

I used to be able to disable microsoft edge when you click on it from the start menu and no pop-up browser will appear. Basically, I did it by renaming my Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe directory in my C:\Windows\SystemApps. Now after I upgraded my OS to windows 10 22H2. Renaming the directory does not work anymore. Is there any other ways to do this? or does any expert knows why it does not work anymore? Would appreciate if you know the solution for SupportAssists as I am unable to find this in the SystemApps.

• Have you tried to searching in Cortana search to check if Edge can be located?
• Besides powershell, what other troubleshooting steps have you performed?

In the meantime, you can download and run the
Windows apps troubleshooter to isolate the issue on Edge.

Start menu is not working on Windows 10

          When you say "If I sign in under my user name I am in some earlier version", which version you are referring to?

          Did you made any recent changes to your computer prior to the issue?

          When you say “I cannot access the start menu and am limited to IP as a browser” Is it refers to Microsoft Edge?
          

As an initial steps, I suggest you to check for the Windows version. To do so, follow the below steps:

1) Login to your computer through user name on which it show earlier version of Windows.

2) Press Windows key + r.

3) Type winver, hit enter.
