Windows 10: How to, Disable mouse from turning on display.

i just turn off the screen without the pc going to sleep (i set the power button to on press turn off the display), and i don’t want the screen to wakeup on mouse movements. i’ve went to the mouse Properties > Power management unchecked “Allow this device to wake up the computer” but the mouse still turns on the display, when i write “powercfg -devicequery wake_armed” to view devices currently configured to wake the computer up from any sleep state i get the following:

HID Keyboard Device Wireless Keyboard Filter Device (003) Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (12) I219-V

and when i write “powercfg lastwake” in cmd i get the following :

Friendly name: Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)

but this is already disabled from waking up the pc and i can’t change it “Allow this device to...” is turned off by default.

and i think all what i did above is for the pc to wake up from a sleeping state, even tho the mouse can still wake up the pc from sleeping but my aim is to prevent it from turning on the display.

Mouse pad turn off windows 10 on a HP laptop

Please reply: What happens when you try disabling the mouse pad? Do you receive any error message?

You can also disable your mouse pad by following the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand the Mice and other pointing devices.
• Right-click on the Mouse driver and click on Disable.
• A prompt will appear, click yes.

I would also suggest you update the driver from the device manager.

How to disable touchpad while accessing mouse on Dell Inspiron n7110 device running Windows 10?

I suggest you to follow the below steps to disable the touchpad:

  Press Windows + X keys from the keyboard and click on

  On the Device Settings tab of the
  Mouse Properties screen, click the Disable button to turn off the Touchpad.

mouse is not working right


unfortunately there isn't a lot to a usb mouse. what i would suggest is checking the power management settings on it.

Right-click the start menu and choose device manager
Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers at the very bottom
Double-click on each HUB you have listed, click Power Management Tab at the top, and UNCHECK "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power"
You may have HUBs called Generic and Root Hub. Perform the step above on All of them.

If you continue to have the issue, i would imagine your mouse is malfunctioning. Perhaps try another mouse just to be sure. This will help you determine if it is in fact the mouse of computer causing the issue.
