Windows 10: how to disable touchpad completely

I have HP envy x360 convertible laptop and I am unable to turn off touchpad from the windows 10 settings. My mouse keep jumping around without even touching the device. There is only show setting for touchpad that is change sensitivity . It did help but did not fix my mouse problem. I have already changed the sensitivity to low. It did help a little bit however, but did not fix my mouse pointer problem. I have checked all virus or unwanted programs. I have disabled the HID for touchpad driver from device manager. It did not fix the problem. There is no button I found on the laptop to disable

Thanks for trying I downloaded driver for touchpad, followed the steps you listed but it did not solve the problem - When I get to the last tab for the software, there is no checkbox for "disable touchpad if mouse is attached." I can completely disable the
touchpad by system, and you, advised against this so at least I had the warning not to completely disable touchpad. I have tried the other options suggested but to no avail. Frustrating!

Touchpad is usually disabled and re-enabled by pressing the Fn and either
F3 or F9 keys, but that depends on the laptop that you have. Each brand have its own shortcut keys. However, you can disable the touchpad from the Settings page. Follow these steps:

1. Open Settings > Devices.
2. In the left pane, click Touchpad.
3. To completely disable the touchpad, toggle off Touchpad.
4. If you only want to disable the touchpad when an external mouse is connected, check the box for
   Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected option.
