Windows 10: How to Disable Touchpad???

Well, I made the mistake of allowing my laptop to update from Windows 10 to Windows 11. I have a several years old HP laptop that has an ELAN. I am accustomed to and prefer using a wireless mouse, not the touchpad. Before I allowed the update, I had managed to configure the touchpad so that it was automatically disabled when the mouse was connected. With the mouse disconnected, the touchpad was available. As a result of the Windows update, the touchpad driver was updated. It no longer is disable when mouse is connected. From past experience, I had learned that with updated touchpad driv

Disable touchpad

Normally, you can disable the touchpad from Device Manager by follow the steps below:

• Go to Device Manager.
• Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
• Right-click on HID-compliant mouse and select Disable.
• Click Yes.
• Check if the touchpad is already disabled.

You can also contact the device manufacturer for further assistance if touchpad cannot be disabled.
