Windows 10: How to disable Windows 10 auto reboot to apply updates ?

Hi all,This is seriously getting me MAD. I have disabled every settings in the windows update advanced settings to prevent Windows 10 from rebooting automatically to apply updated. However, as soon as I'm not sitting in front of my computer lunch break or whatever, I come back and find my computer did reboot to apply updated since some applications including web browers and tabs are re-opening upon login I know that it wasn't a crash.BUT, for some special purpose I'm using some applications that doesn't automatically save modifications to restore them upon reboot. Several times I lost hour

Ok I did another reboot, disabled windows update service, did step 3 again, this time it installed an update, enabled windows update service and did a reboot and voila!! *Peace eace:

Too bad you didn't have a little more patience. It most likely is the Fall Creators update. It can take a couple hours. I am personally aware of 3 cases like yours where the user got impatient. If you look at Update History, most like you will see 1709 failed several times. I suggest you start it again and go to bed. In the morning, you will likely have to reboot, but soon would be good to go.

Disabling Windows Update is a bad idea unless you are very disciplined at manually keeping Windows updated on a timely bases.
