how to downgrade windows 11 pro to windows 11 home single language?

    Hello

Thanks for your reply. Please follow these steps instead that I got from Microsoft Support when I contacted them in January.

To downgrade to Windows 11 Home/Home Single Language, you must first go to Windows 10.

Now here's what you need to do-

    1. Change the Registry values

To change the Registry entry, follow the steps here:

Right-click Start and choose Windows Powershell(admin)

Paste the following command and press enter.

Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" -Name EditionID -Type String -Value Core;Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" -Name ProductName -Value "Windows 10 Home";Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" -Name CompositionEditionID -Value "Core"

What this command does is, change the Current version values in the registry from Pro to Home.

    2. Download the Windows 11 ISO file.

Download the ISO file from the Windows 11 Media Creation tool.

    Go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209

Choose Create Installation Media for this PC.

Choose Windows 11 standard ISO file, and language accordingly.

Choose ISO File. Save the ISO.

Downloading the ISO file is covered in the detail here:

Install Windows 11 version 21h2 manually - Your Windows Guide

    3. Perform an InPlace Upgrade

Open the ISO file and run Setup.exe.

Change the settings so that updates aren’t downloaded.

After Preparation, select Keep personal files and apps, if prompted.

You should see that there is a checkmark besides Windows 10 Home and Keep apps, files, and Settings

IMPORTANT: Usually, when shifting to a completely different operating system, you can't keep apps, files and the settings required since most of the critical system processes require a complete factory reset.

    4. Let the procedure finish which can take up to 90 minutes on a standard PC.

After installation, you should see Windows 10 Home together with updated to the latest version. If you had an existing license of Windows 11 Home, you would find Windows activated automatically, courtesy of a digital license.

    5. For confirmation, open the Activation Settings by copying this link ms-settings:activation?activationSource and pasting it in your default browser such as Microsoft Edge. If you have a digital license for Home Edition and it shows "Windows 10 Home" then you have successfully shifted to a genuine copy. However, if you have a digital license for the Home Single Language edition and it shows "Windows 10 Home", don't worry as you can shift to Windows 10 Home Single Language in a few clicks. Do as follows-'

    • There will be a "Troubleshoot" option. Click on it.
    • After it gathers details, press "Activate". In a few moments, your system will automatically restart.
    • After it restarts, go to Activation Settings. It will show "Windows 10 Home Single Language" so you have successfully shifted to a genuine copy.
The reason why shifting to either Home or Home Single Language is easy is that both of these editions are free of cost. Editions such as Pro, Workstation, Education etc. cost money.

Now that your edition matches your digital license, you probably want to go to Windows 11.

There are two ways to upgrade again to Windows 11-

    1. In most cases, you don't have to do any major work. Windows Update is offering the Windows 11 update so all you have to do is check your Windows Update settings frequently. In my case, the Windows 11 update was offered by Windows Update as soon as I downgraded to Windows 10. You can copy this link and paste it in any browser if you want to check your Windows Update settings now after reading this - ms-settings:windowsupdate?activationSource

    2. However, in most cases, it takes time. If this is the case with you, then you can try upgrading to Windows 11 manually via this link. I recommend using the Installation Assistant tool since it costs only a restart (though long compared to normal/usual restarts), unlike the other options that either require another object such as a USB or a DVD.

You are back to Windows 11 now. To confirm whether your edition is Windows 11 Home/Home Single Language, go to the Activation Settings with the link that I provided earlier. It should be activated. So you have achieved the purpose of this process.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also have a second method for solving this. Download ShowKeyPlus from Microsoft Store. After downloading ShowKeyPlus, open the application and see the "Installed key" section. Copy that installed key. After copying, go to Activation Settings through the link I mentioned earlier. Next to the "Change product key", press on "Change" button. And then paste that installed key in the mentioned field. Then click on "Next". And then click on "Activate". After that, it will automatically restart. After the restart, it should be activated.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first method is really time-taking but it should be worth it as per my experience. It also costs a factory reset. It worked out for me and this method is directly provided by Microsoft Support, not some third-party source, regardless of its legitimacy, or Microsoft Community. I can guarantee that these steps will work.

The second method takes extremely less time compared to the first method. It also doesn't cost you a factory reset. It is just like a usual restart. However, unlike the first method, I personally can't give my confirmation on it, this is based on other people's experiences.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for reading till here, I hope these solutions work out for you.
