Windows 10: How to download and install a driver for Bluetooth 5.0 Nano USB Adapter

I purchased a Bluetooth 5.0 Nano USB Adapter to use with Sony Wireless Stereo Headset. The Adapter is shown in Windows 10 Devices and Printers, but the headphones do not work. The Windows 10 Troubleshooter says "USB Adapter has a driver problem". What are the steps to take for downloading and installing a driver? Does it make sense that a restart is required? Perhaps if I disconnect and reconnect the Adapter after installing the driver, a restart will not be required?Thanks for your help,SweetTasha

Promate Bluetooth™ 4.0 USB Adapter !

Hello Everyone

I have just bought the above mentioned bluetooth adapter but unfortunately cant manage to connect my bluetooth headset with it (does not find the device in pairing mode, keeps searching)! I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for this device from the promate website. Any suggestions?

Bluetooth USB adapter recommendation

I have the following Nano Bluetooth USB Adapter TP-Link UB400 Nano Bluetooth 4.0 USB Adapter Amazon.com It worked fine plugged into the back of my desktop computer for over a year but now my Xbox One controller is unusable with it. I tried different rear USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports but that made no difference. I finally had to plug the adapter into a front USB port for the controller to work. Note I really don't want to tie up a front USB port because there are plenty of free USB ports in the rear. Is it possible this Bluetooth USB Adapter is defective or should I replace it with another? If a replacement should I get another nano adapter or should I get one with an external antenna? I have read that the following are supposed to be good. Ed, I think your very logical initial steps have already proven that the problem is a USB port problem and not a Bluetooth adapter problem. I have never had to investigate a USB port problem but I think I have seen other USB threads in which guidance was given. I'd be limited to - checking for any warnings in Device manager or any devices being shown in an 'Other devices' section [which is a euphemism for no operative driver installed], and - reinstalling the existing Device mgr, Universal Serial Bus controllers section drivers & the Bluetooth section, {Bluetooth device name} driver.
