Windows 10: How to download my photos from my phone to an external hard drive to free up space?

I have a Moto-G,, an Asus with Windows 10, installed. I am trying to download photos off of my phone to an external hard drive. Please explain how to do this. I have already uninstalled microsoft photos because it absolutely sucks. I just want MY photos from my phone to be saved to my external hard drive. I do not want them in any cloud. They are my photos that I took with the Phone I paid for. Why, Why in the F is this so F'n hard. I have been trying for three days and cannot figure it out and now I am out of space on my phone. I am so incredibly angry. I cannot even download google photos

External hard drive not showing up as download destination

I'm hoping to use the Photos app on my PC to transfer photos and videos from my iPhone and save them to my external hard drive. Although the external hard drive is listed as an external device (along with the iPhone), when I select a photo and click "Add item" the external hard drive does not appear as a download destination. Why is this happening and is there a fix? Thanks.

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

Just to verify, did you mean, your back up files used to be on your external hard drive, but now it's no longer there? If this is true, kindly provide more answers to the questions below, so we can further assess the issue:

• When did the files start to disappear?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have done so far?
• Did you make nay changes on the settings of your PC or hard drive prior to this issue?
• Are you getting any error messages when trying to plug in your external drive?
• Does your external drive shows that the space is consumed?
