How to elevate command prompt with admin permissions using usb recovery drive?

I’m using a USB recovery drive to repair a computer running windows 10 OS but it seems like the hard drive is having some issues. I tried reformatting the hard drive from the command prompt but it threw an error Diskpart has encountered an error: The parameter is incorrect. Following an online guide I tried to then run chkdsk command which says “Cannot lock current drive. Windows cannot Tun disk checking on this volume because it is write protected”. Researching this issue most articles are extremely unhelpful as they assume you have access to the windows OS. I’m only to use the command prom

  2. Elevated Command Prompt

    Hi Tommy,

A command prompt is an entry point for typing computer commands in the Command Prompt window. By typing commands in an elevated command prompt, you can perform tasks that require administrator rights on your computer without using the Windows graphical interface.
You may open an elevated Command Prompt by following the steps below.

    1. Open the Start menu, and type cmd to open the search box.

    2. When Command Prompt shows up in the search results, right click or press and hold on it, then click/tap on
    Run as administrator.

Feel free to post your query should you need assistance.

How does Windows boot to advanced recovery option e.g. command prompt?

    - that gives me a 454 'Unexpected error' This tells me that the BCD is partially corrupted.

    The commands: shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
    or: %SystemRoot%\System32\Cmd.exe /c reagentc /boottore&shutdown /r /f /t 00
should boot into Recovery if everything is configured correctly.
FYI, If Windows is configured correctly:
    1. If Reagentc is disabled, you still can get into Recovery but with limited options.
    2. If Reagentc is enabled, you'll get all options.
    3. If you boot Windows using Recovery USB stick, You'll get into Recovery with couple of options missing.

Here's my suggestion if you want to try:
OPTION 1: Will save the trouble of re-install Windows.

    1. Download the image of my first 3 partitions (450MB Recovery, 100 MB EFI partition, and 16MB unformatted primary)
      EFI_Boot-00-00.7z - Google Drive
    2. Run Macrium and restore the image from step 1, overwriting your existing 1st three partitions, leaving C alone.
    3. Delete the 490MB Recovery partition.
    4. From Macrium, run fix boot problems.
    5. Reboot. Open Admin command prompt then run Reagentc /info to make sure that it is enabled. If not, enable it.
if failed to enable, reboot and try again.
OPTION 2: Assuming you've already had Windows backup with Macrium.

    1. Wipe out the first 5 parttiions. (450MB, 100MB, 16MB, C Drive, 480MB)
    2. Fresh install Windows 10
    3. Restore C drive from backup image, run fix boot problems
    4. repeat step 5 from OPTION 1 above.

How to elevate command prompt with admin permissions using usb recovery drive?

    Elevated Command Prompt

I can't figure out how to get an elevated command prompt, especially as a shortcut on the desktop. When I follow the generic directions (or even use Windows Run in Start Menu), the only option is Run but without Admin permission.
When I try to create a new task in Task Manager ("cmd") there is no check box to run as Admin so the command prompt I get is without Admin privileges. You would think Windows would ask for my Admin password at this point.
The issue seems to be that I am usually signed in as a Standard account, not as Admin account. Most apps (like Create a Restore Point) ask for Admin password.

    Win 10 Pro 64-bit 22H2.

    Thanks,
    Johanna
