Windows 10: How to emulate Win10 4-finger gestures without touchpad in Unix?

Hi,

I have a HP Zbook from work, and I love the desktop switching via 4-finger swipe. When using the touchpad this also works when I am connected to a Unix machine via RGS (remote graphics, thin client) running RedHat.

Now when the laptop is docked and I am using mouse/keyboard, and Logitech's "Options" software, the gestures for switching desktops from mouse or keyboard do NOT register in Windows while being in the Unix environment through RGS.

I am not sure WHY exactly the touchpad 4-finger swipe also works when Unix is in focus. Does somebody know?

So, the final question is: How to emulate Win10 4-finger touchpad gestures without actually using the touchpad?

Note: The article talks about enabling the gesture, to disable the gesture we need to make sure the box next to Three Finger gesture is unchecked.

4 finger gesture doesn't work under Windows 10 with Precision Touchpad

Hi,
My laptop has a Synaptic precision touchpad (there are no specific gesture menus under the mouse settings, just whatever windows shows me under the touchpad menu in the metro setting app). I'm running SCU 1803 as I'm in the release preview ring. I've had the advanced configuration for 3 fingers working and with both swiping and tapping function normally and can be customized ever since the 1703 update.

However, I had NO options for 4 finger gestures. I already uninstalled the drivers from the device manager and let windows update it but I still can't activate a four gesture option. Any help would be appreciated since my precision touchpad should be supported after all. My laptop is an Acer Nitro 791g running the latest synaptic drivers 19.0.25.9. I tried contacting Microsoft's support but they weren't of much help. So I ignored this issue for a year until now.

Today, I went through Microsoft catalogue and manually updated my synaptic driver to 19.4.29.3 which somehow enabled the 4 gesture controls. But these do not work even with uninstalling, reinstalling and restarting. (as if 4 fingers aren't recognized by the touchpad).

Any idea on what I can do? Precision touchpads ARE supposed to support 4 fingers no?

touchpad gestures two finger scroll not working Asus 501

Hi there,

1. Go to N501VW | ASUS Global Downloads
2. Download the latest ATK - ATKPackage driver
3. Download the latest TouchPad - ASUS Smart Gesture (Touchpad Driver)
4. Uninstall both the Touchpad driver and the Asus ATK package driver.
5. Reboot
6. First install ATKPackage driver (IMPORTANT to do this FIRST)
7. Reboot
8. Then install the TouchPad driver (may need to reboot)
9. Test if all is working as it should

I had this same issue with my Asus UX305 when I upgraded to Windows version 1803 and doing the above steps solved the issue for me.
