Windows 10: How to enable a blinking cursor when RDP into W2008, W2012

Hi there,


Most of the time it isn't an issue, but a group of users are RDP into a server in order to use some software and have noticed the cursor does not blink.


I've RDP'd into other servers on our network and the issue is the same, no blinking. It appears to be by design.


Have checked RDP settings and disabled all the "Performance" ones under Advanced tab.


Any pointers very much appreciated, or if the topic needs to be moved elsewhere.

Given the steps you've already taken I think as Easy Rhino suggested this is probably something you want to check with the Vendor at this point.

BTW, in your W2012 screenshot your L5506 are reporting as E5506, does that also happen in W2008?

Oh wow. Didn't even notice that. I have no idea why that happens and what are the side effects of that.

Yes I spoke with vendor, but apparently they gave up and is undergoing approval to get me a new server.

 

Fast blinking cursor

Sorry to know that the cursor blinking constantly on Windows 10. I will certainly help you.

This issue might occur if the Cursor blink rate is set to Fast.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it sets the Cursor blink rate to normal. Here's how:

1. Open Control Panel by right click on
Start Button.

2. Change the view by option on the top right to
Large icons.

3. Click on Keyboard, Keyboard Properties window opens, set the
Cursor blink rate as you wish.

4. Click on Apply and OK, check if the issue is resolved.
