Windows 10: How to enable and fix Windows Firewall with error code 0x8007042c?

I've tried starting the Services like: BFE Got error 5: Access is denied, Windows Defender Firewall Got error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start

I am getting an error code 0x8007042c when trying to run Windows Update in Windows 10. Microsoft says the problem is with the Firewall or Defender. Both are fine. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Error code 0x8007042c while enabling Windows Firewall

Hello!

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1.

For around three weeks now, I have been experiencing a number of issues, some of which I have found the solution to and some I have not.

Two firewalls (Windows and one from an external security software agency) have been turned off and I can't seem to get one or the other working.

When I try to enable my Windows Firewall, I get 'Error code 0x8007042c'. I have researched a number of solutions and none seem to work. One solution suggested that my Base Filtering Engine needs to be turned on, but I am unable to do so. When I attempt
to, I get 'Error 5: Access denied'.

I am also finding that programs close on their own and I am randomly signed out of accounts (mostly email).
