Windows 10: How to enable S3 Sleep State and Disable Modern Standby S0

Hi, I am having alot of issues with modern standby i.e., S0. I would like to disable this & enable S3 i.e., the legacy sleep. I have checked that my laptop supports S3. It is only when S0 is enabled, S3 cannot be enabled. Can anyone help me how can I enable S3 and disable S0?

S0 is not really a sleep state but a glorified idle condition. There is no "wake" because there is no sleep.

I also tried inhibiting S0 [on the one computer I have that's afflicted with this curse] and I found that doing so did not enable S3 [Sleep]. So I went back to normal and just set it up so it remained on the network while the display was off i.e. while in S0.

High battery drain during Modern Standby sleep, no obvious culprit

It is much lower in energy consumption than a fully running computer.
It is lower than an equivalent idling computer that does not have S0.
It is not lower than S3.

I've never seen that 'certification standard' but would be interested in reading about it. Do you have a link to it?
Is it, possibly, a standard required for individual hardware components rather than a standard that applies to the whole system?

When you tell it to sleep [or, in fact, whenever your power options turn off your display, the computer enters S0 Modern standby.
S0 Modern standby gradually inhibits more and more running functions and eventually achieves what the S0 Modern standby policy documents refer to as 'sleep' [no relation to S3].

Personally, I disliked S0 intensely and disabled it.
Many people have found that disabling S0 automatically enables S3 Sleep. Unfortunately, I did not so I am stuck with the choices of either running or hibernating. To me, this still beats S0.

The sleep I am referring to is obviously the connected or disconnected standby not the traditional S3 sleep, I think this is obvious from my reasoning.

The term “sleep” in a modern standby capable system is a synonymous of connected or disconnected standby since S3 traditional sleep is disabled when S0 low-power idle is enabled.

I really don’t see where you got the idea that I was referring to the traditional S3 sleep.

Maybe the term “sleep” confused you.
