Cannot change drive letter

Hello,

I request you to try the steps below:

• Press "Windows" + "R" on the keyboard.
• Type "diskmgmt.msc" and press Enter key.
• Now right click on the drive and select Change drive letter or path.
• Select the drive and click on Change.
• Now select the drive letter and click on OK.

Recent upgrade changed drive letters - and I can't change them back !

For the knowledge of all others who may run into this issue, this is how I ended up resolving it:

• In Device Manager, disable the DVD drive (or whatever device has the letter you need). This frees up (in my case) drive D.
• Open File Explorer. Double click your computer. Highlight the drive that you want to change. Click the Open Settings icon at the top. This will open the Computer Management window. Highlight the Disk Management option under Storage (It's all in the left
  pane). Highlight the drive you want to change, right click, select the 'Change drive letter or path'.
• Select your new letter.
• Close Computer Management.
• Back in Device Manager, re-enable the device you disabled in step 1.
• Optionally you can now re-boot.

And you're back.

Windows 10 changing USB port drive letters

I would like to inform you that the issue might have occurred due to some changes made to your computer.

I suggest you to try changing the drive letter of the drive and check if it helps.

Follow the steps to change the drive letter:

• Press Windows + X keys and click on Disk Management.
• Right click on the external drive and click on Change Drive letter and paths.
• Click on Change the button.
• Under Assign the following Drive letter, select the desired drive letter.
• Click Ok to save changes.
