To whom may understand how detrimental Onedrive's behaviour is!Simply put: I do NOT WANT Onedrive taking over my filemanagement - ever! I want the opposite: Onedrive should NOT save let alone sync anything UNLESS I instruct it to do so, be it once, be it always. I have used Windows since it came into existence and I have never felt so lost because files disappear, take far too long to load or save or are filed where I don't want them to. So, can you help?I use 3 different PC's for a reason and I get confused/lose time AND bytes when things on any of them get changed, copied, backed up anyw

I use 3 different PC's for a reason and I get confused/lose time AND bytes when things on any of them get changed, copied, backed up anywhere else than where I remember I "physically" saved/left them. No idea why nobody seems to care about this issue and why there is NO COMPREHENSIVE documentation.

I hope it's not the price I have to pay for having the age to remember times without computers....how to end the paralyzing confusion caused by ONEdrive ;)

    Hi,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

Disable the OneDrive backup feature to stop OneDrive from syncing your files automatically.

Right-click the OneDrive icon on the right side of the taskbar > Settings > Sync and backup > Managa Backup > Turn off all options.

OneDrive will stop automatically syncing the files on the folders you turned off and will restore the default folder location, but it does not move the files, the files will "disappear" from the folders you turned off the sync, but the files are located on the OneDrive folder at C:\Users\(Your User Name)\OneDrive, you must manually move the files to the folders.

Now OneDrive will only sync the files that you put on the OneDrive folder.

    Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.
