Windows 10: How to Finalize a CD/DVD session Windows 10

As easy as this may sound you would think a quick search online would list-out a quick and easy "How To" process. I've yet to find it. There's also the misconception or incorrect correlation of two different and distinct processes of "closing" and "finalizing" a Burn session. They are not the same. I'm in search for "How to Finalize" a Burn session, so that CD/DVD no longer can be written to. This is required for overall Information System security. I appreciate your replies and help on this matter. -- James Zubi

How to finalize a dvd?

Before you can use a recordable disc (such as CD-R, DVD-R, or DVD+R) formatted with the Live File System format in other computers and devices, you need to close the current disc session to prepare the disc for use. By default, Windows closes your disc automatically
when it is ejected.

To close a disc automatically, you can press the Eject button on your computer's disc drive.

Windows automatically closes the current session. This consumes 20 megabytes (MB) of disc space and can take several minutes.

You can also follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer.
• Click the DVD drive.
• Click Close session on the toolbar. The session will be closed, so the disc can be used in other computers.

Windows 7 Professional keeps dropping the DVD/CD drive

Working with a fresh install (2nd attempt) of Windows 7 Professional on new hardware. The motherboard is a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P. Running 4G of RAM and an Intel Q9400 Quad Core CPU. The DVD/CD optical drive is a Pioneer DVR-218L.

Here's the problem - after two fresh installs, Windows 7 drops the DVD/CD drive and I get the following error in Device Manager (The device cannot start {code 10}). After the install, the drive works for a period of time, then stops working and I get the error code.

The driver appears to be a standard Windows driver (CD-ROM driver).

I've tried uninstalling the drive and re-installing it in Device Manager but it does not work - I continue to get the device error.

I've also swapped out the DVD/CD drive to insure it's not a bad unit. Same problem with both drives.

What do you suggest for next steps?? Could it be an issue with the motherboard?? A driver problem?

I visited the Pioneer web site - could not find any help or additional Windows 7 drivers.
