Windows 10: How to find application that still uses Program Manager from Vista: hangs upon shutdown

My issue is a continuation of this thread where I tried all the recommendations. I believe shutdown issues and Program Manager hanging issues are different but may be related.On my new Lenovo laptop, Lenovo Vantage software is likely the culprit, but I'm not 100% certain. Program Manager and sometimes Task Manager hangs with W11. It usually, but not always, is automatically forced shutdown. Even if you're quick, you can't trace which application in fact is using Program Manager. Often, shutdown is not possible using the different CMD prompt commands. Program Manager Hangs On Shutdown

Thank you, I had planned to follow these steps today, but now I think I've figured it out. Ever since I performed a DDU clean install of my GTX 1060's drivers, updating them from 388.71 to 390.65 yesterday.
Program Manger, whatever it was, no longer hangs on shutdown. In it's place,
NvFBCPluginWindow hangs in the exact same way. I always do a clean install of my Display Drivers, uninstalling with Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode, then disconnecting my Ethernet entirely before installing the latest drivers
from a USB stick to prevent Windows from trying to install them at the same time. So I guess until Program Manager starts to hang again I'll continue this discussion on the GeForce forums. If it does reoccur I'll immediately follow your linked steps & report
back my findings. It's my suspicion that Program Manager was/is related to Nvidia or it was just falsely identified by Windows 10 & was their Plugin Window task hanging all along.

Program Manager Hangs On Shutdown

Never mind my previous reply above this one, I figured out the correct download for the in-place upgrade. I downloaded the ISO & followed all the other instructions. It successfully repaired/reinstalled Windows & kept most of my settings, fast startup &
allow Windows to check for driver updates was ticked back on again so I had to re-turn that off. The real bad news though is that the problem still persists. Right after doing all this & checking for Windows updates I restarted my PC & Program Manager hung
for a few seconds again. What I'm interpreting from this is that it's a bigger issue on Microsoft's end or perhaps an app I have installed that's occasionally briefly hanging upon shutdown. Such as MSI Mystic Light or Afterburner since those are the only 2
most recently updated apps I've installed in the past few weeks. It's just really aggravating that I spent the past few hours doing a last resort fix that didn't really improve anything. If you have any further thoughts on this I'd appreciate a reply, thanks
for the help so far though.
