How to find the "identifier value displayed on your PC" for Bitlocker recovery

The printout for the Bitlocker recovery key says to match the identifier provided with "the identifier value displayed on your PC". Where is this identifier value displayed? If I go to Settings > About, I see a "Device ID" that is in the same format as the identifier XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX, but it's not the same as the one printed out on my recovery key.I'm using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. I have seen this question asked regarding Windows 11, but none of the suggested solutions worked for me. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

    :)

where to find the identifier value displayed on my PC?

after turning on bitlocker on windows 10, i received message requested that i find (identifier value displayed on my PC)

    BitLocker Drive Encryption recovery key

To verify that this is the correct recovery key, compare the start of the following identifier with

the identifier value displayed on your PC.

    Identifier:

    .... (identifier #)

If the above identifier matches the one (displayed by your PC), then use the following key to

    unlock your drive...

  3. Where do I find the identifier value on my pc

    Hello Howard_35_78

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

The identifier value that you need to compare with the one in your backup file can be found in the BitLocker recovery screen on your PC. To access this screen, go to Start menu > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > BitLocker recovery. The identifier value will be displayed on this screen.

Regarding your concern about saving your BitLocker key in your Microsoft account, it is generally safe as long as you have a strong password and two-factor authentication enabled on your account. However, it is always recommended to keep a backup of your recovery key in a secure location, such as a USB drive or an external hard drive.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

  4. How to find the "identifier value displayed on your PC" for Bitlocker recovery

Where do I find the identifier value on my pc

HI I would like some help please. When I went to control panel and went to device encryption and I backed up my bitlocker key as a file on my usb key in the file it says the following.

To verify that this is the correct recovery key, compare the start of the following identifier with the identifier value displayed on your PC.

I should also mention that I had to do a clean install of windows 11 and now that is why my bitlocker number changed. I saved my bitlocker into my microsoft account is this a security risk.

Where do I find this value on my pc.

    Some information:

    Windows 11 home

    64 bit operating system

    23h2

I had to do a clean install of windows 11 because I had trojan on my laptop. Don't worry though I contacted Microsoft for help.

    Thanks
