Windows 10: How to fix a Windows Regsitery Key issue related to .exe files after todays Microfoft Update

After performing a windows update today, upon restart, .exe files would no longer run. It appears to be a registers key error. I confirmed there is no virus present. I am a very advanced user, and can access the command prompt level but I cannot access any programs within Windows 10. It loads fine - seems to just be a file association error. I have a recent close of the drive from a few weeks back. Is it possible to extract the registery key from that drive, or is there another way to correct the .exe association from the command prompt. I have looked at RegEdit and can see the key is strang

Issue with Windows 7 Gadgets

For some strange reason, my Windows 7 gadgets (Weather, GMail, etc) can no longer connect to the internet and update themselves. I have added both sidebar exe files (C : \Program Files and C : \Program Files x86) to the Windows Firewall Exceptions list. It is the same issue even when UAC is enabled. What could be causing this? Thanks for any help.

I also just realized that my Windows Update is not working as well, so that may be a related issue.

Windows insider program update issue

well , in the off chance that anyone was curious as to this issue, i fixed it without the above steps....i retried it today, but remembered that i have My RAM overclocked from 1333mhz, to 1866mhz.

I dropped it back down to its stock speeds, and it breezed right though the update with no issues what so ever. problem solved.
