Windows 10: How to fix audio reduction when using voice chat?

Hi, I've been experiencing an ongoing issue with my audio whenever using any sort of voice chat. Right when I speak or join a call on an app such as discord the volume lowers on everything else running on my pc. I've already tried several things using the internet to troubleshoot settings in discord and the pc itself. This includes turning off attenuation in discord, disabling audio enhancements and selecting the "do nothing" option in the communications tab in the windows sound panel, and adjusting different volumes. However nothing has been working and I'm unsure where to go from here.

360 Voice Chat Question

But when your using Ventrilo etc, I take it your using an headset???? Which would mean your getting game audio and voice audio through the headphones on the headset???? You can do this with the 360 by getting a 3rd party stereo headset. What your doing with the 360 seems kind of strange anyway. I couldnt imagine playing a team based game like Call Of Duty and having to shout out orders at a mic on the Kinect *Wtf :wtf:

MS used to give you an headset for chat with the console, but it seems you dont get it with the 4GB (but you do with the 250GB) *Frown

PS: like I said, once you have an headset, official (chat audio only) or 3rd party (ingame + chat audio) you can change the audio level for the game and voice seperately anyway.

 

Software to separate noise from the human voice or song

For audio, you could try Audacity. You can select a sample period where there is just the noise you want to remove, then filter that from the audio.

Voice chat audio no longer comes through Default communication device (mic works fine)

Hi Samuel,

A factor why you're voice chat sounds goes through your speakers as well is due to configuration settings. We suggest that you configure playback devices. Follow the steps below:

• Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound >
  Sound.
• Left-click on Speakers > Click on Set as Default Device.
• Left-click on Headphones > Select Set as Default Communication Device.
• Click OK.

If the issue still occurs, contact your device manufacturer's support for assistance on configuring your device.
