  3. Windows 10 stuck in BSOD -> Automatic Recovery loop, now just Automatic Recovery loop, solutions failed

I've had BSOD issues with my laptop for a while now; I've worried that one time would be the last time it would turn on, and now it seems that has come to pass. I stepped away from my laptop while it was running properly, and came back to find it had restarted, presumably due to a blue screen. I left it to boot back up, only to find it again having restarted. I caught it blue screening with stop code 0xc000021a, and when it restarted this time it went into the Automatic Repair screen; attempting to restart resulted in the same blue screen into Automatic Repair. From there I tried these solutions:

    * Startup Repair seemed to run properly, but did not solve the issue. At some point during my attempts to fix this, it would do this automatically upon a restart, only to fail this time and send me to Automatic Recovery. From there I tried these solutions provided by the menu and suggested online for similar issues, to no avail:

    * Running a system restore began to work, but failed saying there was an issue with the C drive, with an error I believe was 0x80070571, and said to run chkdsk /R.

    * Running chkdsk /R on the C drive began to work at clearing corrupt files, but it was interrupted by a blue screen with error "system thread exception not handled".

    * The suggested DISM /Online commands returned "DISM does not support servicing Windows PE with the /online option."

    * Access was denied for bootrec /fixboot; running bootrec /rebuildbcd or /scanos said that 0 Windows installations were found.

    * It was unable to uninstall the last quality update.

    * Finally I bit the bullet and decided to reset Windows while keeping my files; it could not proceed with an online installation, and a local installation seemed to work but only accomplished the Automatic Recovery screen asking me for a keyboard layout, and the loop is not fixed.

I am sorry for the lack of specific technical details, but these are the solutions I tried in the order I tried them. Are there any remaining methods to fix this issue that will let me keep my files, before any drastic actions like a complete reinstall or new hardware? Thank you.

    Automatic repair loop

Hi there, thanks for your question.

Here are the steps I generally recommend to fix automatic repair boot loops:

    Use Check Disk Utility

Fix Boot and Rebuild BCD via Command Prompt

    Restore Windows Registry

    Delete the Problematic File

    Disable Automatic Startup Repair

    Check Device Partition and OsdevicePartition

Perform Refresh or Reset Your PC

These steps are listed in detail with instructions in the below article:

If you're still experiencing issues after these steps, please let me know and I'll see what else we can try! Thanks!
