Windows 10: How to fix choppy video playback?

Hello there,

i have MSI GL65 9SC series laptop which is brand new. Not even 6-month old yet.

Specs :

However, i have been having extremely odd yet various issues for last 2-3 weeks. Trouble began with unstable Windows updates causing performance issues, followed by constantly unstable Dragon Center application problems. But the problem has gotten even worse for a short time.

Only a week ago, i realised the Nvidia Control Panel disappeared and tried to retrieve. Then, i wanted to update the Nvidia graphics driver to the most recent version. Tried to install 446.14 first by downloading it from the official website, i failed! As it failed me, i tried 445.87. Same thing happened. After that, i returned to my older driver which is 442.19. it worked!

It worked though, i somehow faced a quite different problem later that i could not sort out yet! Whenever i play a video either on my rig or on the Internet, it does look choppy. Not smooth!

In order to fix this, i headed to settings and "troubleshoot video playback". it did not return anything. Then, i launched the device manager and clicked on update driver for Intel HD Graphics 630, it showed me that the most recent driver is already installed.

I would like to have the following;

• How could i play games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 without MSI Dragon Center is installed?(Cos without it, i can't track which Shift mode the rig is sitting on through using FN+F7 button ? (i would like to keep the rig on ECO aside from gaming)
• What else could i try to fix the video playback problem?
• Is it safe to disable the Intel HD Graphics services through services.msc?

N97 Choppy Video Playback

Help!



I am having choppy video playback on my n97. The video was recorded by the n97.

Try the following methods and check if it helps:

Method 1: Run the Video Playback troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Video Playback.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

If the issue persists then follow the below method.

Method 2:

I suggest you to update the Display adapters driver from the Device Manager and check if it works.

Follow the below steps:

• Right click on Start button and click on Device Manager.
• Select the Graphic driver from the list by extending Display adapters.
• Right click on the Graphic driver and click on Update driver Software.

If the issue persists then install the latest graphic driver from the manufacturer and check if it helps.

Choppy video, all sources, 2 different PCs (long post)


The video problem persists. My ISP sent a new modem, but it made no difference on streaming video, so the problem must be somewhere in the computer. I just can't figure where. This is driving me crazy, because I can't watch any video on either computer because the choppy playback is too distracting.

I thought for a moment that the problem may be with the SATA driver or controller, as my Device Manager shows only the following, and if I'm not mistaken I'm supposed to see channels listed as well.





But I just checked a video I recorded on my standalone recorder on a USB 3.0 flash drive, and it's choppy, too.

Doesn't anyone have any suggestions?
