    How to fix error 0x80071771 "the specified file could not be decrypted"?


    Hello. I have some files within a folder on my hard drive, which I initially encrypted using my main account. Then, for a reason, I decrypted them and encrypted them again using a different user account. I also downloaded new files using my main account, however, I added them to the encrypted folder using the secondary account. Now, whenever I try to decrypt the files in that folder, I get this error message, as mentioned in the title, constantly. Some of the files get decrypted, while others don't at all, even when doing with the secondary account. How do I fix this issue? Thanks in advance.

    I understand that you are unable to access the files that you have encrypted and you receive an error while decrypting the files.



    I suggest you to refer the suggestions provided by Shafeeq_Khan in the thread

    Error: 0x80071771, The Specified File Could Not Be Decrypted     replied on April 14, 2019 and see if that helps in resolving the issue.

    Hello , So i have this very very old hdd and i am looking for an AMV video i did yeaaars ago. It may be somewhere inside it , but when i try to look at some files i can't cause they are locked.

    Tried Iobit , tied to unlock them (uncheck the encrypted property) , but i can't access them.

    It says Error 0x80071771: The specified file could not be decrypted.

    This hdd had windows xp on it. I am using Windows 10.
