Windows 10: How to fix .exe games not responding?

When I start a game through steam, it loads and then shows a message saying “name of game.exe is not responding” when I close application, and click Stop runing. It just endlessly shows “stopping” this is also the case with xbox games. Where the game won’t launch and shows “launching” for ages.
