Windows 10: How to fix external hard drive my book G:

How to fix external hard drive my book G:This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page. When try to perform. Error check it saids this disk cannot be performed because windows can't access the disk. If click on it to open it saids G:\ is not accessible the request failed due to a fatal device hardware error. Please can anyone help me fix this please.

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

We would like to know more about this issue that you're encountering with your external hard drives in Windows 10. Kindly answer the following:

• Have you made any changes on your computer prior to this issue?
• Have you tried using a different connector to connect to your external hard drive?
  
• Have you checked if the hard drive is being recognized on a different computer?
  

In the meantime, you can follow these steps to uninstall and reconnect the external hard drive and see if the issue is fixed:

• Right-click Start Menu and select Device Manager.
• Double-click Disk Drives to expand it.
• Right-click the drivers and select Uninstall.
  
  Note: You may be prompted to enter an Admin password.
• After the drivers are uninstalled, restart your computer and connect the external hard drive and check if the issue is fixed.

Help with external hard drive

I appreciate your interest in windows 10 and also for trying the troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. I understand the inconvenience you faced. I will certainly help you with this.

I would suggest you to plug in hard drive then check in disk management you can see the drive or not.

Follow the steps to check Drive in Disk Management.

• 
  Go to the Control Panel then click on the
  Administrative Tools. .
  
• 
  Under the Administrative Tool Click on Computer Management.
  
• 
  Click on Disk Management and check the External Hard Drive.
  

Also check in BIOS whether External Hard Drive is listed or not.

For help with the BIOS settings, refer to the computer manual or contact the manufacturer.

If it doesn’t work then, I would suggest you to update BIOS for updating BIOS contact Lenovo Support.
