As the title said, I'm having an issue!Hi! I'm a windows 11 user and my file explorer is crashing always.Whenever I try to open it, it's always going black screen then not opening at all. I tried other options:1. Running on commands sfc /scannow2. Going on Reg Edit and going on the path Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell and then deleting BagMRU and Bags3. Going to Task Manager and Restarting Windows Explorer4. Clearing File Explorer Cache5. Running on commands CHKDSK6. Running the Windows Memory Diagnostic7. Changing some File Explorer

    Quick Access Crashes Explorer

    Hi Bill,

Quick Access is a new feature in Windows 10 File Explorer navigation pane which helps users quickly navigate to locations which are frequently used. However, if you're having issues with Quick Access, you can try to disable and enable it. To disable Quick
    Access, follow these steps:

    • Type File Explorer Option in the search box.
    • Click on File Explorer Options.
    • Under General tab, choose This PC in the Open File Explorer to: drop down menu.
    • Uncheck Show recently used files in Quick access and
Show frequently use folders in Quick access.
    • Click Apply an OK.
    • Restart the computer and re-enable Quick access.

Let us know how it goes after performing the suggested troubleshooting steps.

    File Explorer Causes Black Screen

Whenever I click on File Explorer, it causes my screen to go black and File Explorer doesn't open, with my curser still working. I have to use ctrl+alt+delete to restart my computer to get out of this issue. If I click on File Explorer while using another app (firefox or Excel for example), I can still use them without any issue, but my home screen and taskbar have gone black, and when I exit the apps, I am back to my original issue.

    I have tried:

    • Clearing File Explorer History - issue pursists
    • Launching folder windows in a separate process - my screen doesn't go black when I click on File Explorer but it won't open either
    • Run netsh and winsock reset - issue persists
    • Run sfc/scannow - issue persists
    • Uninstalling recent update - issue persists
    • Restarting in safe mode - Got a pop up saying "explorer.exe - system warning Unknown hard error" and signing it lead me to the black screen again. Restarting after this did nothing
Any more suggestions would be amazing! My computer is working fine other than this issue.

Why no Quick Access button on Windows 10 File Explorer?

    Hi,

    Thank you for replying.

It might be that File Explorer is being opened in This PC instead of Quick Access, so follow the below steps to change the same.

Open File Explorer > Go to View tab > Select
Options > In the Open File Explorer to list, select
Quick Access from the drop-down list > click on Apply >
    OK.

Once you change the option to Quick Access, File Explorer will be opened in Quick Access with the recent files.

Once you make these changes, let us know the result.

    We await your reply.
