Windows 10: How to fix haywire keyboard

My keyboard keys have malfunctioned. I have an hp laptop elitebook core i5 8th Gen. suddenly some keys have either stopped working or are giving wrong letters for example B-tb D-does not respond K-does not respond L-does not respond N-yn S-does not respond T-tb X-turns on caps lock and types x Y-yn Z-z’ 4-does not respond 7-does not respond and these are just the keys that I frequent. The back space also does not work. I don’t know what to do, I don’t know if I will have have to replace the whole keyboard or if my laptop has some sort of virus.Some of the other keys are type numbers whe

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: You may check if the ALT key is functioning correctly in on-screen keyboard. It will help us to verify if there is any issue with the keyboard.

Follow the steps below to open On-screen Keyboard.

  Windows + Q, type OSK (on-screen keyboard)

  And check if it works
  

Step 2: Run Hardware and device Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your devices. Refer these steps:

I suggest you to check if the issue persists when you connect another keyboard to your system.

If the issue is with the keyboard, then suggest you to update the keyboard drivers by following the steps below.

  Right click on the driver and select ‘update driver software’ and follow the prompts.

How to fix emoji keyboard not showing up using shortcut

This issue is often caused by a corrupted or missing data file. To better isolate if this is a user profile specific or an emerging issue, we suggest that you create a new user profile and try to use the same keyboard shortcut to get the emoji keyboard to
