Windows 10: How to fix Input Signal out of Range in Windows 10

I am using HP Desktop Workstation with Windows 10 installed and 64-bit version. Today while i was running the PC, it suddenly restarted for automatic installation of updates. And then, a black screen was displayed with windows 10 logo and few circles rotating under it.

Later, it showed INPUT SIGNAL OUT OF RANGE. I am neither able to change the display settings nor go to settings by pressing F8 key.

Requesting for help. It is urgent.

Followed instructions and no luck. Again, it seems that windows 10 defaults to a 1900 (approx) resolution which means I probably need a new monitor (or leave the computer on forever. Naturally if I want to shut down fine; that only means I have to pull the
plug from the wall jack before rebooting.

If my assumptions are correct your proposed fix by choosing from the driver list, would be expected not to work. Besides, microsoft techs had already played around with the drivers.

I stick with my claim that microsoft at the highest tech level should look into this. It is a simple matter to figure out. Windows 10 (and seemingly other window platforms as well) want to default to the highest

monitor resolution which I assume most people have. I wonder how many people suffer from this error issue which causes a blank screen, and I suggest most people do not report it. At least I am one of the

fortunate ones to at least be aware of the two options mentioned above.

This issue might occur due to driver’s incompatibility.


I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if the issue persists:

• 
  Right click on Start button and select
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Now right click on your driver and then select
  update driver.
  
• 
  Next select "browse my computer for driver software”.
  
• 
  Select “let me pick from a list of...."
  
• 
  Uncheck the "show compatible hardware" checkbox.
  
• 
  And finally select the older version of current driver.

try unplugging the cable from both ends, when the computer is in on *Smile plug computer first, then the monitor back in.
