Windows 10: how to fix laptop that is getting an "inaccessible boot device" error

Okay, so I have a Lenovo Legion Y520 laptop and I've had this laptop for ~4 years. I usually use it for photoshop, video editing; all that jazz. Whilst I was editing on Sony Vegas Pro 17 my computer randomly shut down it didn't just turn off but went through the whole shut down procedure; gave the whole "do you want to shut down when x amount of programs are still running" spiel and so thinking that it was a Windows 10 update since I remembered that I needed to update Windows 10 I complied and allowed the computer to shut down.


The computer shut down and when it rebooted itself back up, I got the famous blue screen. The stop code read "INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE" and after displaying the screen the laptop began preparing automatic repair. This is where the issue lies, because the laptop never stops preparing automatic repair. I left it awake and on the charger overnight, and yet it never left the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen.


What can I do? It it a lost cause? I am not worried about my files as they are all backed up, but I just feel sad about all the unfinished projects I would lose.

I tried calling Microsoft, but they wouldn't give me help unless I paid, and all the other fixes that I see for this involve somehow getting into Windows which I do not believe I can, so can anyone possibly help me? I would really appreciate it

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but maybe you can have a try. Windows operating system backups a working registry for recovery purpose. You can perform registry backup restoring to fix the inaccessible boot device error. The pre-condition is that you can access to the Advanced startup opotions of your PC. You'll need to use the command prompt.

on the point 1 why should I boot from windows 8.1 CD/DVD ?

this problem is with windows 10 .

the error I get when I boot the system is

I followed the steps to run a repair ,,, and after finishing all the steps of repair the computer restart automatically and the same blue screen with the same error . I think theres no way at all to solve this problem .
