Windows 10: How to fix: Mouse cursor intermittently freezes or doesn't appear?

Mouse cursor intermittently freezes or cursor doesn't appear on screen. I have to unplug the mouse at the USB port and re-connect for it to work properly.It is a bit of an inconvenience to keep doing this.It is a Steelseries Rival 600. I use Windows 11.I have checked the Steelseries GG software and everything appears up-to-date.I have checked Device Manager and the drivers are up-to-date.I have tried using a different USB port.Windows Update is up-to-date, and there are no relevant hidden optional updates.I have turned off the 'allow computer to turn off this device to save power' setting in P

This is the original post on Dec 22, 2022:

• New build PC. Mouse will occasionally freeze and is jittery while frozen. Switching to a different mouse has no affect. I use a Kensington Expert wireless trackball but I have tried removing it and it's associated software. Removed it from Device manager. It still happens with a simple USB mouse. All mouse's (mice?) have been removed from Device Manager and PC restarted with the plain USB mouse. It still happens. I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps that I can find in Google searches. I suspect that some program will occasionally pop up and conflict with any mouse and cause this issue.

Nicole Aljecera was helping me and she advised doing an in-place upgrade repair per this: which I did and it seemed to work for a while. (Thanks Nicole!).

The issue has now returned. I tried doing the Windows repair as before with no luck. I've now upgraded to Win 11 in hopes that it might solve it but it didn't.

It only happens for a while after first start up of the day and seems to go away after a while. It really looks like some program in the background is activating and conflicting with the cursor.

Is there any log file that I can look at to try and identify whether this is the case?

Intermittent Freezing linked to Cursor movement

That sounds like a more deep seated issue, perhaps something you have installed is intermittently running and using all available resources.

It may be worth you opening Task Manager (Press Ctrl > Shift >Esc together) and see if anything unusual appears. This shows task manager, the spike was when I opened it, all is quiet afterwards. If you have lots of CPU or Disk activity then click the appropriate item and see what is using all the resources. You can also view the 'Processes' tab in Task Manager which will list what is using what.
