Windows 10: How to fix - My Ethernet Adaptor randomly is not working today *USB is not recognized*

My Ethernet Adaptor isn't working - In Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers the adaptor for the device that is not working appears as 'Unknown USB Device Device Descriptor request failed'


I have tried everything from updating all the drivers where it says they are up to date doing windows updates, doing a few things on command prompt, etc all from the internet and I am going mad.


However, some of these fixes do contain Generic USB hub under the Universal serial bus controllers section and I don't seem to have it and I feel like that may be the cause of my issue but regardless whether it is linked to that or not I would really like help to solve this issue as a whole


It was working yesterday and now today it isn't. I would very much appreciate the help, thank you in advance

Computer not recognizing Ethernet cable

Hi Vijay, I appreciate your help.

I will try each step even if I've already done it, just to make sure, and post my results.

A. When I troubleshoot internet connections, it tells me “Plug an ethernet cable into this computer” and says my cable might be broken or disconnected. However of course i have tried a different working cable with no luck.

when I troubleshoot network adapter, it says “plug an Ethernet cable into the network adapter ‘Ethernet’” which of course has already been done so it is not recognizing it.

B. I tried every suggestion/step listed (except for the wifi troubleshooting since my computer doesn't have wifi) and none of them worked.

C. When I run the windows update troubleshooter, it tells me “download and install pending updates” (Maybe it is not up to date because I tried reinstalling windows 10 to see if that would fix the internet, but it did not. I updated it like last week or
something like that) but of course I can't download the updates without internet. If I click “apply this fix” it tells me to plug in an Ethernet cable. But i believe windows 10 was up to date before this issue even began because I updated it just a week ago.

D. I do not understand this step. The guide is confusing to me. It also appears that I have to download tools in order to do this repair. I cannot download anything because my computer cannot connect to the internet. I don't have a USB flashdrive. I did
try reinstalling Windows 10 though and it did not help.

 

New build, all works but ethernet

Hi guys...recently I bought a new mobo, processor, PSU and graphics card for my gateway. After a long time of fiddling, i finally got everything to boot up on the bench (still working on getting it into the case).

Anyway everything works fine except for the ethernet port. Under device manager it is listed as "Ethernet Controller", under the category of "unknown devices" (along with several other unknown devices).

Im guessing this means it doesn't have drivers for it, but how do i fix that without an internet connection? I tried plugging from my modem into my USB port, it recognized the modem by name when i plugged it in, but still no internet.

Ideas?

 

KY-AX88772A USB to Ethernet adaptor does not work in Windows 10

After the Windows 10 upgrade my KY-AX88772A USB to Ethernet adaptor is no longer visible.

Where can I find a new driver that will work with Windows 10.

Alternatively, please tell me how I can roll back to Windows 7.
