Windows 10: How to fix ,NET Runtime Event ID 1023?

When I try to load up any app or use my browser, my app just freezes and crashes. I tried reinstalling .NET Runtime but nothing would work. I used OCCT for 3D Standard tests and VRAM tests. The only thing I got out of it was a crash. I can list PC Specs if needed.

Event id 10016 runtime broker

This ClassID and AppID are for the RuntimeBroker which is used to manage Windows Store apps; specifically monitoring access to APIs and security checks. So ignoring this isn't necessarily the best thing to do.

I had another DCOM error related to the NVidia video card which was killing applications. That ClassID/AppID combination was used in the example to fix the issue here: Event ID 10016 - DistributedCOM

To fix this specific problem. Follow the same steps with one exception: instead of looking for the AppID in DCOM list, look for the application name (RuntimeBroker) directly, since it is there.

 

Microsoft Report Builder .NET Runtime error

Hello,

I have a problem with the program Microsoft Report Builder. Basically when I try to launch it, nothing happen.

I also tried to uninstall and reinstall it without success. Until a few months ago it started without problems.

Checking in the Event Viewer of Windows I have this two errors:

Event ID 10016, CLSID and APPID

FreeBooter, thanks - you have helped me solve this!

For others who may find this thread, which I'm now marking "solved," here are the two critical errors I had made:

1. The registry keys that need to be edited will likely be different from one machine to the next. Note FreeBooter's comments below steps 2 and 6 above. You need to edit ownership and permissions to the keys showing in YOUR event viewer, not the ones documented in other people's posts!
2. In fixing the AppID registry key, as FreeBooter says in Step 14, you need to note the service referenced by that key, then in DCOM Config, adjust the properties and permissions of THAT service - not the ones that might be documented in other people's posts

I do have one additional question for which I'll invite answers. One of the services I had to tweak was Runtime Broker. And the computer had TWO "Runtime Broker" services on it. On one of the services, the security customization permissions were grayed out, and, crossing my fingers, I tried the other service and I was able to make the changes. What's with the two Runtime Broker services?
