Windows 10: How to fix resolution on hp 2310 monitor

I recently purchased a new hp laptop with windows 11 but when i connect it to my hp 2310 monitor via hdmi the outer parts of the screen “hang off the edge” and are not visible, im using the suggested resolution for the monitor 1920x1080. In the past the display has been connected to a windows 10 hp laptop via vga and the suggested resolution displayed fine

What exactly happens when you try to change the screen resolution? Do you get any error message?



The recommended resolution on windows 10 is 1920 x 1080. Change the resolution to 1920 x 1080 and check.

The reason why your display was stretched sideways is because the resolution was in-corrected.



Here are the steps to change the screen resolution:

• Right Click the Desktop and select
  Screen Resolution.
• Click the Make text and other items larger or smaller link.
• In the Change only the text size section click the
  drop down menu to select the items you want to change.

Problem with screen resolution for Hi-def monitor on Windows 10

Thank you for your thoughtful answer...but I've already made all your recommended steps. The monitor is an HP 24uh. As of this morning, tho, I ran into another odd snag: the HP Support Assistant does not find/ID the monitor. Strange...since I bought it
from HP directly not an outside vendor. All drivers are the most current. No matter what I do, I end up with the basic 7 resolution options listed in the device mgmt menu.
