Windows 10: How to fix Start Menu cutting off text for pinned apps?

The FIRST image is from a MacBook Air running Windows 11 Home via Parallel DesktopsThis image is from Intel Windows 11 Home. The recommended scale is 300% selecting 300 didn't fix problem, it is currently set at 175%. The Display resolution is set at the recommended 3840 x 2160

Pin apps to Start

Pin the apps you use most often to the Start menu. Here's how:

• Select Pin to Start.

Cannot pin Microsoft Solitaire Collection to start menu

A. I checked settings to ensure I have the latest build, and status is up to date.

B. I tried the 3 steps in the linked thread (see below) - did not resolve the problem.

Step 1. Microsoft Solitaire Collection appears in setting->apps. Clicked Reset. Cache sized changed. Does not appear in apps list, or pinned to start.

Step 2. Uninstall - reinstall. Did that twice 1) selected "Pin to Start" after the Store install when the option appeared. App didn't appear in apps or pinned to start. 2) uninstalled, reinstalled from Store. Did not select "Pin to Start" after the Store
install. App didn't appear in apps or pinned to start.

Step 3. Performed the steps using Powershell as admin, entering the commands using cut-and-paste from the thread article. App didn't appear in apps or pinned to start.

- Checked system recovery - Restore option not available.

- Did not Reset Windows.

 

Can't Pin to Left Side of Start Menu

Still an issue and no official MS response. At the very least MS ought to justify the rationale behind the decision to remove this functionality.

It is further confusing to find web pages that explain how it can be achieved, that the system still (at time of writing) provides some indication that it works, and yet nothing happens.

At time of writing when dragging a short-cut to the Start button, the "Pin to Start Menu" message is displayed, but dropping the short-cut appears to do nothing. In previous builds this pinned to the left-hand menu, hence the existing web references to this
functionality.

My suggestion would be to reinstate left menu pins OR allow a "list view" style for the right-hand menu (columns would be a nice option, so that screen width can be utilized).
