Windows 10: How to fix the letter of a USB stick

Hello,I have one USB stick A, which I always use and I need to fix the letter of it.So, I did as:Inserted the USB A into my Windows 11 computer;Started the disk manager;Right-clicked the USB A and chose Change Drive Letter and Path for I: ;I hoped the USB A 's letter to be fixed to H, so I change it to H, and saved;I inserted USB B, and then inserted USB A. I found the USB B had the letter H, and USB A had the letter I.This states that I failed to fix USB A stick a letter. So, how should I fix a letter to USB A?Thanks.

help. USB drive isn't assigned a drive letter.

Any usb flash drive I plug into my computer isn't assigned a drive letter. The physical drive shows in the "safely remove hardware" but it doesnt show up in disk management. I have tried to populate the volume thru the safely remove hardware properties window and it does pop up in the list but it doesn't stay there. This isn't a format or assign a letter problem. It's more complicated then that. Maybe one of the services needed for usb drive management was disabled? Suggestions needed. btw external usb harddrives work fine.

Method 1. Try to run the hardware and device troubleshooter .
Follow the below steps.

1. Press windows + X key then go to the Control Panel.
2. Search for troubleshooting then click on hardware and device.

3. Under hardware and device click Configure a device.

4. Follow the on screen instructions.

Method 2. Try to uninstall and install latest keyboard drivers in compatibility mode from manufacturer site and check.

Follow the below steps to install in compatibility mode.

1. Right click on driver installation file and select Troubleshoot in compatibility mode and check in the Run this program in compatibility mode.

2. Tap or click the drop down box and select the operating system, then tap or click OK.
3. Try installing the driver and check.
4. Follow the on screen instructions.

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk
