Windows 10: How to fix the user's files icon appearance on the desktop?

I am using Windows 11 version 23H2, processor - intelR CoreTM i3-1005G1 CPU. I recently downloaded anew theme from the Microsoft Store and applied it on my laptop which changed the appearance of the user's files icon on the desktop. Now I can't change the appearance of that icon in any way. I have reverted to the default theme that was set, I have tried changing the individual icon of user's files, I have removed and reset the desktop icons, but nothing worked. The user's files icon now looks like a very small folder icon instead of the usual normal sized icon. Additionally, when I created

Cannot find Desktop Icon in File Explorer

My Desktop is showing icons as normal. But if I try to find what is on my desktop by using file manager, I cannot find the icon. I also checked under C;\user my name, public, default and no desktop listed on any of them. Any suggestions?

 

Removing desktop icons

the icons are located in 'all users' folder somewhere (for example, i see a few shared icons in "C:\Users\Public\Desktop" )

The only way to fix those, is to remove the icons from there, and place them on to each users desktops manually. an admin may need to do this.

 

Cannot find Desktop Icon in File Explorer

Now that is interesting. If I do what you suggest, File Explorer Address bar changes to C:\Users\username\documents and the missing ICONS are there. But there is still not a "Desktop" folder.

Is this a step in the right direction?
