Windows 10: How to fix when Windows 10 when stuck at bootup asking for external storage media to be...

Windows 10 update said my hard drive did not have enough space, so I moved many files to an external hard drive. I allowed windows 10 to download update and when I went to shut down pc, I let it start the update. It got stuck at 0% and then asked for an external storage media to be installed at startup. I attached my eternal hard drive and it still keeps asking for external storage media at startup. It did the same in safe mode. How do I fix this?

Fails: asks for external storage

I have a 32gb hard drive Acer r-11 that I bought which advertised a Windows 10 upgrade.

I have tried to install windows 10, 3 times and each time it asks me to insert an external storage device. I have a 256GB SD card in the slot and it still asks me to insert the the the external storage device. I take it out, put it back in and click ok
and it still says to insert external media device.

I tried other SD cards and even thumb/flash drives, same thing.

My computer, HP 14-an013nr, said to do the Windows 10 update, but the storage was full so it suggested an external storage device... The problem is that now after using a usp drive and following the steps it is unable to reinstall the previous version. I've
tried this multiple times and even when it says "Restoring the previous version of windows" it always comes back to the "error please insert the external storage media and press ok" message. I can no longer use the computer. It will do NOTHING. It won't restore
the previous version of windows and only shows a black screen with the error message. Is there a way to save the thing or is it lost?

Please reply to the questions mentioned below in order to assist you in a better way.

• Did you try inserting the external storage to another port of the computer or inserting it in another computer and check if it gets recognized?
• Are other external devices getting recognized in the computer?

Please revert if the external storage media still does not get recognized.
