Windows 10: How to force 2 in 1 back into true laptop mode?

Acer laptop keyboard not working and standard ps/2 keyboard driver didn't reinstall after uninstalling and restarting

Using a wireless keyboard as a testing device adds another level of complexity. I would have used a wired keyboard instead.

Regardless of this, you can test your keyboard while in BIOS mode. To enter the BIOS mode you need to press a certain key that is specific to your laptop. It could be Esc, F1, F12, Del etc. Try this:

1. Turn the machine off.
2. Turn it on and keep tapping one of the above keys.
3. If you see the spinning circle, immediately force the laptop off by pressing the power button until the screen goes black.
4. Repeat steps 1 and 2 three times. This will force Windows into Repair mode which also lets you test the keyboard outside the normal Windows environment.

 

Win10 laptop w/laptop display (no others) labeled 2, can't change to 1

1. The drivers were installed when Windows 10 was installed. There was nothing on the laptop prior to installing Windows 10.
2. I don't have another display to try attaching as suggested.
3. Not sure if it's always been like this or not. I just started looking at the configuration settings a week or so ago.
4. To check hardware status, I've run a bunch of Lenovo tests and update checks. Nothing found.
5. I did the Device Manager suggestion. 2 PnP monitors listed ... clicked "Show Hidden devices" ... found 2 more PnP monitors for a total of 4 ... uninstalled all 4 ... restarted ... same situation. Results: Device Manager now only lists 2 PnP monitors total (no hidden monitors) even though the only monitor is the laptop built-in monitor, but no change on the designation of laptop monitor being number "2" monitor.

Thanks for your help and suggestions. Not sure why it is like this. Might be something like Win10 compatibility, old hardware, or similar.

I've taken enough of your time on this. I can live with it as it is. Might decide to upgrade to a new and current laptop, or just proceed as is. Anyway, your responses are greatly appreciated!

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to follow the below steps.

Step 1: I suggest you to run the Power troubleshooter.

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Power.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

Step 2: Also you may install the latest display drivers from the manufacturer's website for Windows 10 and check if it helps.

Method 2: Start the computer in Safe mode.

If the issue is not occurring in Safe mode then, place the computer in a Clean Boot and check.
