I've a number of PC's on my home network. I need to ensure that other PC's on the network, that aren't my main machine, that are used by family members, prompt me for 2FA via my Authenticator. Microsoft are really pushing for PIN Windows Hello, but tbh in the home environment, its more hassle than its worth. In my work, I'd just be looking at rules and group policies, being a full corporate network with AD, Azure etc. but this is just a home network.

    :)

    Authy Alternatives for 2FA?

thanks again for the detailed replies. - - - Updated - - - i'm a bit confused about the bitwarden site, Field Guide to Two-Step Login | Bitwarden Help Center they suggest using Authy themselves, lol, but it seems to suggest the 2FA 6-digit code is only available on their mobile app? or do they mean you just need it on the phone to scan the QR?

Add gmail account to outlook without text message verification?

A screenshot might help us identify whether it is MS or gmail that is responsible for this (my guess is gmail). The MS instructions you linked to say that no verification should be required if 2FA (in gmail) is off.
I suggest you turn on 2FA in gmail, and try again.

2FA not asked when I logon to my laptop

I saw a lot of unsuccessful login attempts all over the world on my account, so I decided to apply 2FA and I installed MS Authenticator.

But when I logon to my laptop (the one from which I lauched the MS A. installation) , I log in by simply typing my password, 2FA is not applied.

I think that this is because this laptop is considered a prefered device and so 2FA is not applied here, but not sure .

When I go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices, my laptop is listed and when I go to the Additional Security Options in the Security tab, Two-step verification is turned on indeed.

And indeed, when I use another device, like my phone to start f.i. MS To Do, it DOES ask for MS A. confirmation, so there 2FA seems to work.

Now I am wondering whether 2FA was indeed set up correctly and my statement about the prefered device is correct, or whether I did sth. wrong.

I never used 2FA before and I don't know what to expect, so sorry if this is a stupid question.
