    How to format an external hard disk that has come from a mac?


    Hi I have a 3TB external hard disk Seagate that I want to use on my PC as a backup. I haven't used it for some time and I did have a Mac some years ago, so I think it is formatted for a Mac. When I connect it to my PC it isn't even visible so I am not sure how I am meant to format it when I can't see it? Any ideas?

    How to use Mac formatted external hard drive on Windows?

    Hi,

    Since the external hard drive was formatted for Mac and the only way you can access it is by using a third party tool, we suggest contacting Apple support to further assist you.

    I have an external hard drive . When i plug it into pc pc becomes slow , so I want to format it , but it is not possible in GUI mode .

    Can I format it while booting??

    Formatting External hard drive.

    1. Launch the Disk Manager with diskmgmt.msc
    2. Use right-clicks to delete all partitions on the external disk
    3. Create one or several new partitions
    4. Format them
