Unknown Constant RAM Usage

Hi,

To explore more on RAM usage by processes and see in-depth I advise you to open the Resource monitor, please follow the below steps.

Step 1 :

Open Task Manager

Step 2:

Click on Performance

Step 3:

At the bottom click on Open Resource Monitor

Step 4:

Under Resource Monitor windows click on Memory

Step 5:

Click on Working Set to list the top process utilizing the more RAM and then evaluate RAM usage.

How to reduce memory usage in window 10?

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. I understand your concern and I am glad to assist you.

Please follow the steps and check if memory usage can be reduced.

• Press and hold the “Windows” button and the “R” button.
• In the run window you will need to write the following: “dfrgui” without the quotes.
• Press the “Enter” button on the keyboard.
• In the new window that shows you will need to left click or tap on the hard drives you want to defragment.
• After you have selected the hard drives you will need to left click or tap on the “Optimize” button and follow the instructions on the screen to finish the defragment process.
• After the defragmentation is completed reboot your Windows 10 device and try to see if it improved your RAM usage.

ram usage seems limited

I looked at Crucial.com - DRAM, solid state drive (SSD) memory upgrades for Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS for that model Notebook and it shows only an X550DP. It's result is there is only 1 memory slot and will support a maximum of 12GB.

Crucial does not show a 12GB module, largest at 8GB. [Memory Modules usually come in multiples of 2GB or 4GB, i.e. 2, 4, 8, 16, etc.] Some computers allow mixing, could have 8 + 4 for 12GB but with only 1 slot available that is not possible.
