Windows 10: How to furtherly troubleshoot/fix the microphone issue.

Hi, is there anyone here experiencing microphone issue in Dell XPS 17 9710? The mic is built-in from the computer. It appears from the device manager but not detected in applications. Mic permission is allowed to all application and windows, driver was updated and tried to revert, also tried change the driver from intel to realtek. All of the tries not works.

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

• Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
  
• Corrupted or outdated driver
  
• Faulty device
  

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
  
• Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
  
• Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?
  

In the meantime, we suggest running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter to find and repair problems with recording sound. We also suggest checking if your microphone is set as your default recording device. For troubleshooting steps, please see

  to run the
  Troubleshooter.

Issue with microphone from headset

Hi,

I'm Mohammed Shuaib, an Independent Advisor & I understand from the description that your facing issues with the microphone being not detected as a speaker so I suggest you follow the below instructions to resolve your issue.

Fix #1:

Step 1:

Go to search box next to Windows icon and type CMD

Step 2:

Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator

Step 3:

Type msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic and press enter.

Fix #2:

Step 1:

Go to search box next to Windows icon and type Troubleshoot

Step 2:

Click on Troubleshoot

Step 3:

Then select Recording Audio and click Run the Troubleshooter

Step 4:

Select Microphone and click next
