    How to gauge computer virus threat?


    I recently installed a virus on my laptop and the way it executed itself was very concerning. It opened up cmd. Next thing i knew, there was a program called Auto Shutdown installed and chrome was opening up a new tab for a specific website every 30 seconds and it never ends. I immediately tried to do a system restore but the virus wouldn't let me. Now I'm doing a full wipe-everything reset and so far, there are no problems, currently at 85%. Does anyone know what type of virus this is and how dangerous it is? How likely is it that the virus may have burrowed deep down into my system that it's able to survive a full reset?

    Virus and Threat Protection Issue

    When looking to run a virus scan on my computer, I'm met with an error that says "Virus and Threat Protection is Managed by your Organization." THis is a personal laptop though. Any suggestions?

    virus and threat protection

    Virus and threat protection has stopped and will not restart, Windows 10 ver 1709, antimalware client ver 4.12.16299.15 . SuperAntiSpyware installed.

    I have tried most of the suggestions from the support pages, all have been ineffective. Any suggestions

    Windows defender is stating no threats but my computer keeps freezing, is this a virus or firewall issue?

    Hi,

    Here are the reasons why your computer is having a performance issue(e.g. freezes):

    • Infected by a virus
    • Software conflicts
    • Hardware failure
    • Incorrect or incomplete Windows Update installation

    For us to isolate the issue, were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?

    In the meantime, we suggest performing a clean boot to determine if software conflict is causing the issue.
