Windows 10: How to get colour management to work instead of Display settings colour profile - Windows 10

Previously on windows you use colour management to control ICC for devices, everything I search talks about colour management. Except saving those profiles does nothing, the only way to calibrate a monitor to an ICC is in Display settings under colour profile. Unfortunately there are two major issues. Issue 1 there are only a few colour profiles selectable and no way of adding new ones say if I calibrate my monitor. 2 it applies the same profile to both monitors rendering it useless. I just want the old method back, what is the point of colour management if it effectively doesn't manage an

I calibrate and profile my laptop for photo editing in photoshop. I currently use Windows 10 on my laptop. I create my own ICC profiles and add them to All Profiles in the Windows 10 Colour Management tool. I then go back to the Devices section,click Use my Settings and select the profile I wish to use.

I can also simply select the profile in the main Display Settings under the colour profile box.

This all works very well.

My question is ......................what purpose is the Advanced part of the Windows Colour Management Tool? Why would I need to use it?

The act of viewing Display settings un-applies the chosen colour profile

I work in graphic design. I have a ColorMunki device which I use to calibrate my monitor. I used to have a problem where every time I restarted my PC the calibrated colour profile would get un-applied. By "un-applied" I mean every place where I can view the colour profile settings it would appear to be correctly pointing to my calibrated profile but I can tell from looking at the screen that the profile has not been applied.

Eventually after some research online I turned off the WindowsColorSystem->Calibration Loader scheduled task which appeared to fix the issue.

Now I have this new problem where every time I right-click on my desktop and click Display settings, the screen visibly reverts back to some default colour profile, even though all the settings appear to be pointing to my calibrated profile. From this point on, I can try changing the colour profile in "Colour Management", or in the Display settings and absolutely nothing has any effect on what I see on the screen. The only way to restore my screen to use my calibrated profile is to restart the computer.

 

How to fix Colour Management Profile not active anymore after Screen Timeout?

Whenever my Notebook goes to Screen Timout and i turn it on again by moving the mouse, the colour profile that i set in Windows Colour Management is not active anymore.
I have to open Display Settings by right clicking the Desktop, and then the colour profile activates again.

When i don't do that, i just have the standard colour profile of the monitor and all colors are off and too blue (i'm a video editor and calibrated my display to D65 (6500 Kelvin, matches natural sunlight White color with a specific ICM profile).

It looks like it's a bug.

How can i fix that ?
