  1. How to get GameDVR to record with dedicated GPU rather than Integrated Graphics.

I just got a gaming laptop with an RTX 2070 Super and while playing in games, I like to have it record in the background. One issue I am having is that it records using the integrated graphics rather than the dedicated graphics. I want it to record from the dedicated GPU instead. I tried going to the graphics settings in Windows 10 where you can set programs to use the "power saving" GPU or "high performance" GPU but GameDVR doesn't seem to show up there and I've tried setting the Xbox Game Bar to dedicated, but that didn't work. How do I get it to properly switch from the integrated graphics to the dedicated graphics?

    :)

I had no clue what to do so I went into my BIOS to change it and there was integrated and switchable listed I picked switchable and still nothing now I'm here hoping somebody can help me.

    I'm running windows 10 home version 1903, integrated gpu=intel graphics 3000, dedicated=AMD radeon graphics HD 7670M

  3. System Won't Use Dedicated Graphics, Defaults to Integrated

    Laptop: Dell G3 3779

So a friend of mine updated their GeForce drivers a while ago and suddenly their laptop is using integrated graphics for everything, they get low FPS even on non demanding titles such as League that their laptop should and was able to handle just fine.

We sat through it for a whole day trying to figure out what the problem was, here's a short, possibly non comprehensive list of things we've tried to no avail:
    • Update Windows + All drivers
    • Uninstall graphics driver with DDU then reinstall latest
    • Rollback to gpu driver before the problem started
    • Try to force use of dedicated gpu through Nvidia control panel, game settings, and through disabling integrated gpu in device manager
    • Scanning for viruses
    • Checking temperature, airflow, heat
    • Checking all processes and services
    • Clean Boot
    • Overclocking, benchmarking on Overwatch, no difference in performance whatsoever
Attached are some diagnostics taken today, hopefully we can work together to resolve this.

    Integrated vs Dedicated GPU Query

Ok, thanks for the advice, it's good to know the fan is supposed to whir up and that the integrated GPU should do the job.

I followed the advice and set firefox on nvidia via control panel just to see what happened in task manager processes and if the fan still kicked in. It did and with the same level of noise but the GPU usage was showing much lower, (around 30%) and in processes it showed both nividia and integrated usage simultaneously, which was unexpected but perhaps the integrated may be other processes that are running rather than firefox. Although I can't think what.

Having looked through the nvidia control panel which is set to Global settings 'auto-select: Integrated', and then scroll down the list of programs in the box on the program settings tab, I notice just about everything is set to integrated, even stuff like vlc player. So the question that springs to mind is what is nvidia actually used for, if not even games and videos. What is the purpose of having a high spec dedicated graphics card.
