How to get PC recognized device (smart TV) onto PC's network?

As I don't do these things often, I quickly forget how to do it. I have a new TV (LG OLED 55C8) that is working very well under wireless conditions. My smart TV is capable of connecting with my PC (Windows 10 Home, latest updates); however, I am having a problem getting the PC (HP desktop Envy) to connect the TV to the network. The PC does recognize the TV as it shows up in Control panel>Devices. BUT, the network status of the TV on the PC is "Not connected." I'd appreciate some guidance to get the TV onto the network. Thanks.

    :)

  2. Smart TV or cheap media center PC?

This is what I want to accomplish but I dont know the best way to go about it as Ive never owned or messed with a Smart TV.

I want to be able to be either in my room or my living room and stream movies that I have off my NAS to my tv. Can I accomplish this with just a smart tv? Will the smart tv even recognize a device such as a NAS on the network? Or would I be better off getting like a small media center PC and using it?

The NAS im using is a WDMyCloudEX4.

    Thanks!

Connect a desktop pc to a Samsung smart tv

I'm trying to connect a older Desktop pc with Window 10 to my Samsung f8000 smart tv via wifi or LAN. My desktop pc is ethernet cabled to the Sky home hub and the smart tv ethernet cabled to the hub as well. My smart tv appears in the connected devices
list but it doesn't seem to connecting, is it because I need a wireless dongle??
