How to get rid of Creator's Update?

    Hey all

I am new to this forum and I appreciate your help. The latest update broker a bunch of programs I need. I tried resetting the PC, formatting the drive and reinstalling windows, but no use.

How can I get rid of the update? The thing is, I have a USB drive I created with the media creation tool long before the update came down. But when I format my PC with it, it installs windows with the update somehow. So strange!

I even tried cleaning my drive with diskpart before installing windows again, so I know i wiped it. I am not sure how the update keeps coming back. How can I revert back with a fresh install so that I can stop windows from installing it again?

I have windows on my C drive, it's an SSD. I also have a D drive but that's on a separate HDD where I keep my personal files.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks all!

    :)

My neighbour has just ought a Nokia 1600 on the Vodafone pre-pay network and is trying to get rid of the Silent message that appears on the screen.

First go to Menu then Profiles and select General.

If "silent" is still there then go to profiles again and check the name of the profile selected. You should be able to change it there to the appropriate text. =)

How to get rid of Creator's Update?

Hello, I think - possibly- your question is 'how do I stop the Creator's upgrade being applied'?

    That's assuming
(which? it's different for different people?) was the Creator's upgrade.

    1. Live in a Faraday cage, disconnected from the outside world (ok, I'm joking - maybe).
    2. Disable Windows update altogether.
    3. Don't use Windows.

The point about this and all future updates is that if you want to continue to receive Windows updates at some point you will have to upgrade. Each build has a lifetime, after which you will receive no more upgrades.

If you have Win 10 Pro (I don't know, very few people bother to say whether they have Home/Pro/Enterprise etc), you can Defer Feature Updates- which means you won't get the Creator's build for a few months.

The real solution is to resolve the issues, if possible.

A recommended defensive move is to create a new disk image or update your existing one (we repeatedly and strongly urge everyone to use disk imaging) before attempting the upgrade.

(If you really are forced to use the Anniversary edition because programs you need haven't been updated or aren't compatible, you can download old iso's from MS sites- but you'd then have to disable Windows update).

I agree with dalchina. Really the only way to ensure that you never get the creators update again is to either use Linux or to use your Windows system totally isolated from the rest of the world.

The easiest thing to do is to fix your problems. If you are 100% sure that the update caused your problems then you are half way to fixing them. Unfortunately the fact is that nobody can be 100% sure that an update caused their problem.

A good option for you would be to document your problem and then start a thread that details the problem, that way somebody can help you fix the problem.

If you want to use Linux, we can help you with that as well.

I find it unlikely that any apps that worked in Windows 10 Anniversary Update would fail in Windows 10 Creators Update. The base os is really not that different between the two versions, and it's most the UI that has changed. The only apps I can see failing are things like Start Menu replacements and the like, but those tend to get updated to support the newest version pretty quickly.

Can you explain which apps these are? Perhaps the better solution is to find a way to fix the apps.
