Windows 10: How to get rid of help menus on older programs banishing me to the realm of some unhelpful...

Whenever i opened the help menus in old games i was sent to some useless microsoft page. Turns out they replaced winhelp32 with some garbage redirect. So i replaced it with one that actually works. Now i want to view the help menus in Microsoft Inkball, but it still sends me to that garbage page. Anyone know how to get help menus based on helpctr.exe to work like i did with winhelp32.exe? I don't care if that help format is insecure or whatever. Just let me see the darn help menus!

Older program not working after installing KB3163018 update on Windows 10.

The above issue might occur due to incompatibility of the program with the update installed on the computer.



Before we assist further, which is the “older program” you are referring to in the above description?



I suggest you to install the program in Compatibility mode by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.



Compatibility mode runs the program in the current version of Windows using the settings from previous version of Windows.



Step 1: Install the device drivers manually in
Compatibility mode.

  Locate and right-click on the program setup file downloaded/saved on the PC and select
  Properties from the context menu.
  
• 
  Click on the compatibility tab, check the box
  Run this program in compatibility mode for, select Windows 8.1/7 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.
  
• 
  After the installation is complete, restart the computer and check if the changes are effective.
  

Step 2: You can also follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• 
  Press Windows logo key on the keyboard and type
  Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.
  
• 
  Select the top most search result and follow from
  step 2 from the article Make older programs compatible with this version of
  Windows (Also applies to Windows 10).
  
• 
  Check if the changes are effective.

Feature suggestion: Add right-click menu

Suggestion: Please add a Windows 7 Jump-List and/or right-click menu to the GPU-Z icon in the Windows taskbar. Possible menus in it would be "Exit" and "About GPU-Z...".
Maybe also "Switch to tab 1/Switch to tab 2/Switch to videocard 1/Switch to videocard 2" too.
Examples of programs that have such menus are ICQ, Skype, AIM.

NOTE: It seems for a right-click menu, Windows 7 is not needed - it works on WinXP and Vista too.
But even a Windows 7 Jump-list may be good enough.
