    Screen says "your microsoft account brings everything togeter:. No x to close, just goes to another screen about MS. Cant close word. Have tried lots of things. Help! I just want Word back! And these screens gone!

    Word docs

    many thanks for responding and trying to help me. the problem is that all of the docs in various folders that were word docs are no longer word docs - they only open on wordpad (and so parts of the docs cannot be seen). does anyone know why that would
    happen?

    I actually don't know if I have a current subscription to office.

    Need Utility to read/convert older Word docs

    If the .doc files are from Word for DOS then I found a solution. The following web site lets me convert these .doc files to .docx.

    You can have a choice of:
    1. Select and drop the .doc files one at a time. After conversion download the .docx file.
    2. Select a directory and select all the .doc files in it. After conversion download a zip file with all the .docx files in it.
